- I am Gregory Lamont Brown, a Chicago-based writer, author, music creator, U.S. military veteran, and founder of D & G Publishing. My creative work is rooted in story, discipline, faith, survival, memory, and the cultural inheritance of being an African American man shaped by family, service, education, and the city of Chicago. My debut novel, Elara’s Silence, launches The Hollow Gospel Cycle, a dark fantasy series built around prophecy, power, blood memory, rebellion, and the cost of being chosen by forces older and hungrier than mercy. As a writer, I am drawn to stories where myth and history collide, where beauty and brutality sit in the same room, and where characters must decide what they are willing to become in order to survive. I hold an MBA in Marketing and a Master of Education in Instructional Technology, backgrounds that shape how I approach both storytelling and publishing. Marketing taught me how to understand audiences, build messages, and position creative work with purpose. Instructional technology taught me how people learn, process information, and connect with ideas across different platforms. Together, those disciplines influence my work as a novelist, business writer, digital publisher, and content creator. My writing spans speculative fiction, fantasy, articles, labor communications, business writing, community-focused commentary, and creative essays. I write about power, identity, legacy, work, grief, resilience, and the complicated beauty of people trying to make meaning in a world that rarely slows down long enough to explain itself. Through D & G Publishing, I continue to develop novels, digital magazines, original music, comics, multimedia storytelling projects, and creative services for writers, entrepreneurs, and organizations. For me, writing is not just expression. It is architecture. It is testimony. It is a way to preserve what mattered, challenge what failed us, and build something that can outlive the moment that created it.
