- Sandra Adell is an emerita professor in the Department of African American Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is the author of Double Conscious/Double Bind: Theoretical Issues in Black Literature (1994); Literary Masters: Toni Morrison (2006), a memoir titled Confessions of a Slot Machine Queen (2010) and the editor of Contemporary Plays by African American Women ( 2015). Her current book project is titled And Then the Casinos Came: Black Women’s Narratives About Gambling, Addiction, Recovery.She also is working on adapting her memoir for the stage as a solo play.
