- Steven Peterson is a poet and playwright living in Chicago. He is the author of the collection Walking Trees and Other Poems (Finishing Line Press, 2025) and a selection of his poems is included in the anthology Taking Root in the Heart (Paraclete Press, 2023). His poems frequently appear in such journals and magazines as Alabama Literary Review, The Christian Century, Dappled Things, First Things, Light, The North American Anglican, and The Windhover. His plays have been produced in theaters around the USA and include The Invasion of Skokie (world premiere at Chicago Dramatists, 2010), Affluence (world premiere at Theatre 40, Los Angeles, 2014), The Actuary (world premiere at Peninsula Players Theatre, Wisconsin, 2017), and Paris Time (world premiere at Capitol Repertory Theatre, Albany NY, 2018). His plays have been developed at the new play festivals of such theaters at Cleveland Play House, Theatre Ariel (Philadelphia), Utah Shakespeare Festival, and others. He has been a long-time resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists. Steve was born in Chicago, grew up in its suburbs, and lives in Chicago today.
