- Author Karen B. Kurtz has published books, essays, poetry, and countless nonfiction articles for readers of all ages. She began writing and publishing nationally in college. After marriage to award-winning photographer Mark A. Kurtz, the new Kurtz Team formed a writing-photography corporation. They still collaborate on interesting projects. Karen's fifth book, SOPHIA'S GIFT (Intellect Publishing, 2020) won three book awards, reviews, and praise from Her Majesty Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom and many others. Artist Loran Chavez illustrated this hardcover picture book with vivid watercolor spreads. SOPHIA'S GIFT is marketed to children aged 8 and up, Junior Collectors aged 8 to 17, and adults who are enthusiastic about doll collecting, Civil War, Jewish life, women's studies, history, military, and antiques. Karen is at work on new book development, virtual programs, magazine commissions, and consultation.
