The feature presentation of the 3rd Annual Writers Block Party, to be held 1 - 4 PM Saturday, August 16 at the Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin, will be a panel discussion on the topic "Promoting Yourself as a a Writer." Moderated by State Street Publishing's George Rawlinson, the panel will feature a diverse mix of local authors, a book publicist, a blogger/social media expert, and the founder of the Chicago Writers Conference. Here are brief bios for the five panelists: Mare Swallow is a public speaker, training consultant, essayist and founder of the Chicago Writers Conference. Dan Burns is a teacher and author of three books ("Recalled to Life," "The First 60 Seconds," and "No Turning Back.") Dana Kaye is an independent book publicist (Kaye Publicity) and frequent speaker on topics on social media, branding and publishing trends.

Marcie Hill is a copywriter, blogger, speaker and author ("62 Posts to Overcome Blogger's Block" and "How to Write a Powerful Professional Bio."
 
Libby Fischer Hellman is a teacher, speaker and author of 10 Chicago based thrillers

Following the discussion there will be an opportunity for attendees to meet the panelists during a social networking "Writers Block Party." Light snacks and soft drinks will be served.
