I'm a commercial litigation attorney specializing in the defense of corporations in breach of warranty, breach of contract and Uniform Commercial Code disputes. My work is actually kind of cool and can be mentally stimulating, but I loathe the billable hour and sometimes think I would have been better off at the public defenders office where work done is more important than hours billed. I doubt that my creditors would agree.
In my salad days I had a couple of short stories and movie reviews published, but I'd rather forget them. I spend too much time working (the law is a cruel mistress) and playing (golf, tennis, Playstation 3, Wii, and poker) to put my insomnia to good use. But 2010 is the year that changes. Joining CWA was the first step in my plan to get back to the literary life. I'm not sure what the next step is.
My homeland is Louisiana so, like most tropical peoples, I spend a lot of time trying to stay warm.
I write essays, short stories and novels that lean towards the existential and focus on the slightly paranoid perception of the author/narrator/protagonist, rather than the reality of the situation. |
