CWA Book of the Year Award Winners

Three debut authors and a New York Times Best-Selling author who self-published his latest work are the winners of the Chicago Writers Association’s first Book of the Year Awards.

The awards will be presented at 7 p.m. Jan. 14 at The Book Cellar, 4736-38 Lincoln Ave., in Chicago’s Lincoln Square. The event is free and open to the public.

All-star cast to pick 4 winners

Eight authors have been named as finalists in the Chicago Writers Association’s first Books of the Year Award.

The finalists, chosen by members of the CWA Board of Directors and the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame Committee, will compete for four awards to be presented at 7 p.m. Jan. 14 at The Book Cellar, 4736-38 Lincoln Ave., in Chicago’s Lincoln Square.

Windy City Reviews v. 2.0

Our book review service, Windy City Reviews, is open again for business – with a newly designed website and a new web address: www.windycityreviews.org.

We sincerely apologize for the delays and confusion in getting this program going. This is new to us and we are working hard to get it right. We scrapped our first launch because of unforeseen wrinkles, which we hope to have ironed out with this new version that streamlines the review process.

CWA launches Book Review Service

Self-published and small press authors face an uphill battle when it comes to getting their books reviewed. The Chicago Writers Association is stepping in to even the playing field a little.

Today, CWA officially launches Windy City Reviews, (www.windycityreview.blogspot.com) a site created to provide authors of all genres and areas of specialization an opportunity for increased exposure, valuable feedback, and deserved recognition. We are now accepting books for review.

CWA's own Lit 50 star

Every year New City ranks its top 50 movers and shakers in the Chicago literary community. This year, the list includes one of our own, Don Evans, for his tireless work in developing the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame. Congrats to Don and to all of the CWAers who have played a part in making the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame a reality.
